Biography

Jeremy has been working on video technology at Google for over 7 years, covering all aspects of ingest, processing, serving and analysis.
As an Engineering Director at Google, he is currently responsible for overall video technology direction with particular focus on video within the web platform. Prior to Google, Jeremy worked at Microsoft for 8 years on Hotmail and many other online properties. Before Microsoft, he worked at the BBC, The Multimedia Corporation, Online Magic (now agency.com).

Talk Synopsis

Over the last 5 years, creation and distribution of video online has increased dramatically, and Google has been at the core of this explosive growth, building and running the largest online library and distribution infrastructure in the world. However, conventional video technology is not keeping up with the needs of online creators and consumers. In this talk, Jeremy will talk about the history of video technology at Google - what we have learned, what we do now, where we are going next and some of the significant unsolved challenges in the world of online video.
