Mike has worked as a 2d artist, 3d artist, art director, cg supervisor, pipeline supervisor and private consultant for some of the largest productions in the entertainment industry.
In the sports broadcast arena, Romey has had a pivotal roll in the design, creation and development of multiple Super Bowl, ESPN Sports Center, Sky Italia, NCAA, and PGA real time 3d broadcasts graphics packages.
In design, he has worked on epic sized environment signage projects for Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brother helping design and develop a 24hr a day 1 block wide by 3 story tall LED sign. He was also a pivotal part of the production of the first new space show for the renovated Hayden Planetarium in New York City.
In the Visual effects community, his most recent accomplishments have included molding Zoic’s ZEUS pipeline into a juggernaut production. Allowing them to produce nearly 200-400+ shots per episode for the hit show V. In the process, developing sophisticated tools to improve production and realize major growth and cost savings in the studio. Currently, he is also working with the Visual Effects Society as an Associate member to help integrate Shotgun into their Awards committee work flow.
He graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Art and Design Department in 1999 and has since been a features speaker at various conferences and industry events including NAB, IBC, and Siggraph. His expertise has led him to contribute his knowledge to publication articles for Post Magazine, Millimeter Magazine and countless web articles and blogs.
